JAN 4, JAN 20, FEB 1, FEB 17, 2012 LINCOLN, THE CONSTITUTION AND THE CIVIL WAR, JACKSONVILLE, FL MAIN PUBLIC LIBRARY,
The American Library Association traveling exhibit, “Lincoln, The Constitution and the Civil War” will be on display at the main Jacksonville, FL Public Library December 28, 2011 through February 17, 2012. As a local addition to the exhibit, Florida Chapter members have loaned the library replicas of Civil War era telegraph instruments and copies of telegrams sent by Robert E. Lee to David L. Yulee, Florida’s first U. S. Senator, which will be on display for the length of the exhibit. Chapter members will be on hand Jan 4, Jan 20, Feb 1 and Feb 17 to demonstrate those and other instruments and to talk about the role of Morse telegraphy during the Civil War.

FEBRUARY 4 & 5, 2012 FARM FESTIVAL AND QUILT SHOW, PIONEER FLORIDA MUSEUM, DADE CITY, FL
The Old Trilby Depot, located on the grounds of the Pioneer Florida Museum, Dade City, will be in operation for this two day annual event. Florida Chapter members will demonstrate and display antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment in the old depot. The museum is located one mile north of Dade City on U. S. Highway 301. Hours 9AM-5PM Saturday and 10AM-5PM Sunday.
FEBRUARY 4-5,2012 BATTLE OF TOWNSEND PLANTATION (MT. DORA, FL)
Florida Chapter members will participate in this annual Civil War Reenactment, which takes place just of U. S. Highway 441, east of Mt. Dora. Replica telegraph instruments and equipment from the Civil War era will be demonstrated.
FEBRUARY 25, 2012 CRACKER DAY, PIONEER ARTS SETTLEMENT, BARBERVILLE, FL
Florida Chapter members will be on hand in the old Pierson, FL depot to demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment during this event, sponsored by the Black Bear Road Association. Hours 9AM-5PM. The Pioneer Arts Settlement is located off SR 40, just west of U. S. Highway 17.
FEBRUARY 25 & 26, 2012 CRACKER DAYS AT RAINBOW SPRINGS STATE PARK
This annual event is focused on the post-Civil War history of Florida and attracts large crowds every year. The Southern Telegraph Field Office will be open and in operation on both days of the event. The park is located at 19158 S.W. 81st Place Road, Dunnellon, Florida, 34432
MARCH 17. 2012 PLANT CITY, FL MODEL TRAIN SHOW
Florida Chapter members will be on hand to display and demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment during the annual model train show hosted by the H. B. Plant Railroad Historical Society. The event will be in the John R. Trinkle Center on the grounds of the Plant City Campus of the Hillsboro County Community College, located at 1206 North Park Road, Plant City, FL. Exit 22 from Interstate 4. Hours 9AM-3PM. MARCH 24, 2912 MODEL TRAIN SHOW, PIONEER FLORIDA MUSEUM, DADE CITY, FL
Florida Chapter members will have the old Trilby Depot open for demonstration and display of antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment during this one day event. The museum is located one mile north of Dade City on U. S. Highway 301. Hours 9AM-5PM.
APRIL 7, 2012 PLANES, TRAINS AND BBQ, TAVARES, FL
Florida Chapter members will demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment at Tavares City Hall during this annual event, one of the biggest events of the year for this community. In addition to the telegraph demonstration, there will be an Air Show, a Car Show, Seaplane rides, BBQ competition and musical entertainment all day long. Hours 10AM-4PM. APRIL 28, 2012 MORSE DAY CELEBRATION
Florida (FX) Chapter members will honor Samuel F. B. Morse, the inventor of the Morse code and electromagnetic telegraphy in a Morse Day celebration held at the Central Florida Railroad Museum, 201 South Boyd Street, Winter Garden FL. Members will display and demonstrate unusual and rare telegraph instruments and equipment. A computer program will allow non-telegraphers to follow along as chapter members exchange telegraphic greetings with members of other Morse Telegraph Club chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Hours 10AM-4PM, Free - donation.
MAY 12, 2012 NATIONAL TRAIN DAY, TAMPA, FL
Florida Chapter members will display and demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment during this annual event to be held at Tampa Union Station. They will also discuss the role of the telegraph in the expansion of railroads throughout the United States. This year, the event will also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Tampa Union Station.
DECEMBER 1, 2012 HERITAGE DAYS, FLORAL CITY, FL
Florida Chapter members will be on hand to display and demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment during this annul event, held to celebrate the railroad, mining and agricultural heritage of this community, located on U. S. 41 between Inverness and Brooksville, FL. Hours 9AM-5PM.
