JANUARY 16-17, 2009 TAVARES, FL RAILROAD DAYS FESTIVAL
The annual Tavares Fl Railroad Days Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, January 16-17, 2009. Friday hours are 5:00PM - 7:30 PM, in the City Hall. Chapter members will display and demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment. Saturday hours are 10 AM - 4PM with a train show in the Civic Center and a railroad art display in City Hall. Chapter members will be on hand at the train show in the Civic Center with their equipment.
JANUARY 17-18, 2009 BROOKSVILLE RAID 2009, CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT
The Brooksville Raid Civil War Reenactment will be January 17-18, 2009, on State Highway 50, between Brooksville and Weeki-Wachee, Hours 10AM-4PM each day. Florida Chapter members will have the Southern Telegraph Field Office set up to demonstrate the use of Morse telegraph during the Civil War.
JANUARY 31-FEBRUARY 1, 2009 BATTLE OF TOWNSEND PLANTATION, CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT, 2009
Battle of Townsend Plantation, Civil War reenactment will be Jan 31-Feb 1, 2009, at Reninger's Antique Mall, U. S. Highway 441, Mt. Dora, FL. Florida Chapter members of the Morse Telegraph Club will have the Southern Telegraph Company Field Office set up to demonstrate the use of Morse telegraphy during the Civil War.
FEBRUARY 14 & 15, 2009 FARM FESTIVAL AND QUILT SHOW, DADE CITY, FL
Florida Chapter members of the Morse Telegraph Club will be on hand at the Pioneer Florida Museum, Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15, 2009, to demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment in the Old Trilby Depot on the grounds of the museum, during the museum's annual Farm Festival and Quilt Show. The museum is located one mile north of Dade City, Fl on U. S. Highway 301. Hours 9AM-4PM both days.
MARCH 21, 2009 PLANT CITY, FL TRAIN SHOW AND SWAP MEET
The H. B. Plant Railroad Historical Society will present its annual train show and swap meet on Saturday, March 21, 2009, 930AM-3PM, in the John R. Tinkle Center on the Plant City Campus of the Hillsborough Community College, 1206 North Park Road, Plant City. (Exit 22 from I-4) There will be vendors, model train layouts and all day long informational shows. Members of the Florida Chapter of the Morse Telegraph Club will be on hand to demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment. For further details, click on the link to the H. B. MARCH 27-28, 2009 SPRINGTIME ON THE MALL, 2009, AVON PARK, FL
The annual Springtime On The Mall festival will be held Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 2009 in Avon Park, FL. Members of the Florida Chapter of the Morse Telegraph Club will be on hand at the Depot Museum as part of Hobo Days presentation by the Avon Park Historical Society. Visitors will be able to send souvenir telegrams to themselves as part of the Morse Telegraph demonstration. Hours 9AM-4PM Daily.
APRIL 25, 2009 MORSE CLUB ANNUAL MEETING, WINTER GARDEN, FL
The Florida Chapter of the Morse Telegraph Club will join in with other chapters in the United States and Canada in celebrating Morse Day 2009, in honor of Samuel F. B. Morse, the father of Morse telegraphy. Chapter members will display and demonstrate antique and replica telegraph instruments and equipment. Using modern modems and normal telephone lines, members will "dial-up" special telegraph hubs and exchange telegraphic greetings with members of other chapters. The event will be in the Central Florida Railroad Museum, 101 South Boyd Street, Winter Garden, FL. PUBLIC INVITED. Hours 10AM - 4PM.
